This is our first installment in the series of “Things to do in the Lone Star State”.
It will include things to do from the shores of the Gulf of Mexico to the top of the panhandle.
If you find yourself in Austin and want to get out of the city for an afternoon think about this fun train option. Always plan ahead and get your tickets so you don’t miss out though!
It’s the best way to sight see: Take the train and leave the driving to someone else. The Austin Steam Train’s Hill Country Flyer (temporarily pulled by a diesel locomotive) will take you on a two-hour, 35-mile journey from the Cedar Park station just north of Austin to Burnet through beautiful Hill Country scenery. After a stop of two-plus hours in Burnet for lunch, sightseeing and shopping, you get back to Austin about 4 or 4:30 p.m. Contact: 512-477-8468; www.austinsteamtrain.org
