Water is of major importance to all living things. 90% of your body weight comes from water. Up to 60% of the human adult body is water. The brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water. The skin contains 64% water, muscles and kidneys are 79%, and even the bones are watery: 31%.
Babies and kids have more water (as a percentage) than adults. Women have less water than men (as a percentage). People with more fatty tissue have less water than people with less fatty tissue (as a percentage).
Water needed a Day:
Babies: consult pediatrician
Children: 5 glasses for 5 to 8 year. 7 glasses for 9 to 12 year. 8 to 10 glasses for 13+ years a day.
Adults: 8-8 ounce glasses,or half a gallon a day.
However, there are other health gurus who think we’re always on the brink of dehydration and that we need to sip on water constantly throughout the day… even when we’re not thirsty.
