I have read quite a few posts on different social sites and blogs about 2016 being over and how happy people are that it is finished. It was a tough year for many. I agree, I can think back on numerous tragedies and deaths during 2016 that left families shattered. Some had financial problems and lost jobs. A lot of people were faced with life changing circumstances this past year. 2017 will be the same for some of them as they continue to fight against illness, relationships and for some the political culture. Our country is fighting within too.The world is fallen, sin is running amuck. Good bye 2016, hello 2017.
When I sat down to write this it was not to be a downer post. I am not trying to dismiss pain, suffering and down right sorrow and mourning. I am not, those are real and they are painful.
This post is about welcoming 2017 and choosing joy. Cheer with me fellow optimist and if you’re a pessimist jump right in and join the party! Life is good! That sounds like a great tag line for something, okay yeah, they beat me to it. Oh well, good for them! Life is good and I don’t get paid to say that.
We all have struggles. If not today, then just wait for tomorrow or think backwards a little. It is real. Apparently, I’m one big cliche today.
My light hearted, happy post just keeps going south.
I am choosing joy today. I am going to live in today. We have problems, but so does everyone else. I could list my woes right now and you’d feel sorry for me. I won’t, it doesn’t matter. What matters is today. What will I do today? What attitude will I show the world today? What kindness will I share today? Who will I smile at today? Who will I encourage today? Who will I pray for today?
2017 is going to be great! I love that movie, Facing the Giants. Have you seen it? Go get it. Go get it now! Watch it now! I’m not going to spoil it for you but I am praying and I am expecting an answer. I will praise the Lord no matter what that answer is. Yes, praise Him no matter what.
